Bargen, Walter
The Body of Water122 pages: 63 poems/3 illustrations 5.5 x 9/o 400 copiesThis book collects Walter’s water trilogy–Yet Other Waters (1990), The Vertical River (1996), and Water Breathing Air (1999)–into one volume. The three individual books were all published by Timberline, and Walter got Mike Sleadd, a fascinating illustrator from Columbia, Missouri, to create pen and ink drawings for the sectional title pages. The first two of the trilogy were done by letterpress originally, but we decided to do the book by offset. Therefore, the books was set in 11 pt. Book Antiqua using Corel WordPerfect 8. Fulton Graphics printed, and I handstitched and bound the books.
West of West2007: 978-0-944048-42-9)76 pp / 3 photos plus cover by Alan Berner 5.5 x 8.5 $12.00 Walter Bargen was selected as the first poet laureate of the state of Missouri with a two-year tenure of 2008-2009. “Walter Bargen is one of the two or three best poet/critics in this country, as testified by his brilliant WEST OF WEST. One of the most startling aspects of his mind is its range; though a seemingly ‘regional’ writer from Missouri, his range and sophistication are international. WEST OF WEST continually delights. This is poetry to which I return, again and again.” – Jonathan Holden (Poet Laureate of Kansas, 2005-2007) |
